A crew named for the man who mapped the sky
We're a not-for-profit Star Trek fan community in West Yorkshire — part of a worldwide fleet, run by volunteers, powered by enthusiasm rather than expertise.
A local home for Yorkshire's sci-fi fans
The USS Appleton is a chartered chapter of STARFLEET International, in Region 20 (UK & Eire). We're based in Bradford and draw crew from right across West Yorkshire — and, thanks to hybrid meetings, well beyond it.
Our job is simple: give fans a friendly, low-pressure place to belong, have a laugh, play some games, and do a bit of good along the way.

Why we're also called LBSF
Officially we're the USS Appleton. Locally, we've long gone by Leeds Bradford Starfleet — LBSF for short. It's the same crew, the same welcome, just a friendlier front door for folk who aren't sure about all the fleet formalities.
You can be part of LBSF without ever filling in a form. Or you can formally enlist with STARFLEET International through us and unlock the whole fleet. There's no wrong way in.
What we hold to
Welcoming, first
Nervous, new, or just having a look? You're exactly who we're here for. Kindness beats knowledge, every time.
All ages, all fans
Trek, wider sci-fi, or just curious — families, students, veterans of the fandom. Everyone's crew here.
Not for profit
We're volunteers. What we raise goes to local causes we care about — not into anyone's pocket.
Like the sound of us?
There's a seat aboard whenever you want it — and no pressure until then.
